What is checked during my MOT?

An MOT test is designed to make sure that the cars and vehicles on our roads are safe. The test itself involves checks on many of a vehicle’s areas including the exhaust, fuel, emissions, lights, reflectors and electrical equipment. We also check the driver’s view of the road, the body and structure of the vehicle, steering and suspension, seat belts, tyres, brakes and wheel alignment.

What happens if your vehicle fails its MOT?

Should your vehicle fail its MOT then we’ll provide our findings in a report for you to read. Our mechanics will also talk you through the issues that have resulted in the failure and provide advice as to what will be required to rectify the problem. From there, we’ll then provide a completely obligation free quote which is your total fee inclusive of parts, labour and VAT.

We don’t charge for an MOT re-test when we’ve undertaken the work ourselves and minor repairs can additionally be taken care of on the same day.

How often does an MOT need to be undertaken?
Vehicles under three years old don’t have to undergo a yearly MOT but once it reaches this point, every vehicle must pass its MOT every 12 months. If you’re unsure as to whether your vehicle is due for its MOT, you can enter your registration into our online booking tool and it will find out for you.
